A Storyteller That Transcends Time

Stephanie Carey is a journalist-turned-author with a passion for exploring the complexities of love, loss, and the lingering impact of the past. From devouring books as a child to running out of fiction recommendations at her elementary school library, Stephanie's love for storytelling was undeniable from an early age.

Her journey into writing began in an unexpected place — a college grill where she worked flipping burgers. A chance conversation with her journalism professor, who challenged her to prove she could write, set her on a path that would define her career. She went on to write for The Rocky Mount Telegram before transitioning into radio, where she hosted Morning Edition and covered news in Evansville, IN. Over the years, she explored various roles in media, each experience shaping her storytelling voice and fueling her dream of one day owning her own media company.

That dream became a reality in 2018 when Stephanie became the co-owner and publisher of The Pitch, Kansas City’s beloved alternative newspaper. Steering it through the challenges of the industry — and even the height of COVID — she kept the publication alive and thriving until selling it in 2021. Today, she works in tech sales while continuing to write compelling, emotionally resonant stories.

Stephanie’s latest novel, Blindsided, is a captivating blend of heartbreak and time travel, following a woman who is forced to relive her past in order to heal her present. She lives on The Country Club Plaza in Kansas City with her beloved rescue dog, Frannie.
